Candidates for the 2024 election are listed in order of receipt of their nomination form. Our bylaws limit the AAUW California Board of Directors to eleven members, including President-Elect, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Directors.
In 2024 we vote to fill six (6) positions
- Secretary (two-year term 2024-2026)
- Four (4) Directors (two-year term 2024-2026)
- One (1) Director (one-year term 2024-2025)
The AAUW California voting period will begin on April 27th and will close on May 18, 2024. We provide every member the opportunity to vote electronically. The roster will be requested from AAUW in early March, so every branch has time to make sure that all email and mailing addresses are correct.
When the election period starts, each member will receive an email message containing a personal invitation to vote. There will be a link to click that will take you to the ballot. No password or code needs to be entered. Members who do not have a working email address will receive information via postal mail with information about how to vote.
Candidates
Lata Murti – Director
(one-year term 2024 – 2025)
I want to more actively support AAUW-CA at both the state and branch levels in integrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)–supplementing what the excellent AAUW National DEI Toolkit provides with reflections and learnings from my own work and lived experience, particularly in relation to cultural humility. To me, DEI is crucial to AAUW-CA branches’ growth, not only in membership, but also in fulfilling its mission in an increasingly diverse state.
Michelle Davis Baer – Director
(two-year term 2024 – 2026)
With a facility for technology, I hope to be of service in leading in the technology arena. As a working leader, I would provide both hands-on service as well as vision regarding what future innovations are possible. I would maintain and expand the critical capabilities of the current systems by enhancing the existing documentation and training. Lastly, I would deepen my understanding of the current technologies in use in the branch before making further recommendations.
Donna Holmes – Director
(two-year term 2024-2026)
I am a third generation AAUW member and my mother’s passion was Funds and it is my passion, too. I am in AAUW for the Mission not the social groups. I was widowed in December 2022 so have more time to take on assignments and may even try a book group!
Tracey Clark – Secretary
(two-year term 2024-2026)
My goal for this second term is to remain available and present for all meetings requiring minutes and to produce the minutes within a two week timeframe after each meeting. I also hope to provide insight during board discussions to help mitigate issues and/or plan activities.
Rebecca Gomez – Director
(two-year term 2024 – 2026)
I would like to see more growth in the various programs, Speech Trek, Tech Trek, and Gov Trek, to provide middle and high school female scholars the opportunities to develop their potential and explore the possibilities of academic and career success. By increasing AAUW’s reach in these programs, these young women have a safe environment to learn. These skills will allow them to develop lifelong skills to become the next generation of dynamic, successful leaders.
Deanna Arthur – Director
(two-year term 2024 – 2026)
I want to further the work of AAUW in whatever position I am given. I want to be a source of support to our branches and members. The work AAUW does it important – I want to help – School Board project, AAUW Fund, Tech Trek, Speech Trek, and whatever else comes up.
