In conjunction with national staff and consultation with past and current state presidents, I standardized the disbandment and consolidation procedures. As a public speaker, I was asked to give the keynote address to the Annual Meeting of Community College Leaders and Advisors about Women in Leadership and AAUW. My broad knowledge of all things AAUW, plus my public speaking abilities I have been asked to moderate multiple branch & IBC retreats, leadership meeting and forums.
Explain how you will incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion in your plans.
We need to reach out to like-minded groups and people who share our vision of equity for girls and women. Many branches remain insular and unwilling to make these efforts. When as an AAUW California Director for Marketing, our marketing firm shared that younger women would be likely to join an organization which offered mentoring and networking. We need to think about how we might accomplish this within our current structure, or what else we might do to provide these avenues.
Give your reasons for running for this office.
My passion has always been women’s rights and issues. AAUW’s mission is a perfect fit for this passion. I am concerned about the erosion I perceive in these areas and want to continue the great work of AAUW California and AAUW national to help women and girls achieve the most they can.
