AAUW started in 1881 when 17 university graduates challenged the prevailing idea that women should not pursue higher education.
Today, our 170,000-strong fellowship of men and women continues to empower women and girls in their education and careers.
We believe quality education equips women and girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to overcome challenges, pursue meaningful careers, and break down gender barriers across many fields such as STEM.
Together we can advance women’s empowerment and foster a society built on equity, empathy, and shared prosperity.
Educators, we invite you to stand with us and make a difference in our communities!
